Cine film transfer 4K-UHD-2K-HD of 35 mm films with “Cintel” film scanner.

Scanning is performed “frame by frame” with a “Cintel” film scanner that has a maximum resolution of 4,096 x 3,076 from 35mm film.

We can digitally transfer 35mm films, in nitrate, triacetate and polyester, even if films are deformed by time and damaged.

Before scanning by telecine, films are inspected on film viewing table to detect any physical defects. Any repairs are carried out with professional film splicer Catozzo, followed by film cleaning with “Kodak PT Roll”.

The final quality is very high because cine film transfer works in real time in 4K – UHD – 2k – HD and acquires the frame without any cut to the frame, always respecting the correct cinematographic aspect ratio. The file or the individual frames are then processed with “DaVinci Resolve”.

The audio portion, if any, is processed separately with a mixer, equalizer, and suitable sound processing software.

The standard telecinema delivery is on file with format to be agreed. For those who have to perform the post-production we provide on demand the native “cri” frames.

As an option to standard processing, we can provide the following services*:

  • Washing with solvent;
  • Digital restoration of films, removing all typical defects caused by the ravages of time, returning the brilliance of the original colors with “Da Vinci Resolve”;
  • “Digital correction” of the film, removing all imperfections due to seams on the copy or any damaged frames.
  • Manual level optimization.
  • Digital removal of residual dirt.
  • Reduction of film grain.
  • Removal of vertical scratches.
  • Sharpness improvement.

Accepted films:

  • Standard 35mm format with vertical scrolling;
  • Positive color and positive black and white, negative black and white.
  • Silent films, with variable-density or variable-area optical sound and magnetic sound.
  • Films with cyan soundtracks.
Cine film transfer is performed at the requested resolution. The aspect ratio specified on the film is always observed, unless otherwise noted.

We never cut arbitrarily the frame of a film. This is our inescapable way of working!
